In addition to providing clinical services in his Tampa office, Dr. Shahnasarian provides rehabilitation psychology services at local hospitals; he currently has privileges at Advent Hospital. Most of his hospital-based practice involves assessment and counseling related to disability adjustment issues.

Additionally, physicians seek Dr. Shahnasarian's input, for example, on questions about a patient’s mental status before undergoing procedures such as a gastric bypass, or implantation of a dorsal column stimulator or morphine pump. He has also consulted on matters relating to competency, Baker Act admissions, and end-of-life issues.

In recognition of his work as a rehabilitation psychologist in hospitals in the Tampa Bay area, the Tampa Bay Business Journal selected Dr. Shahnasarian as 2009 Health Care Hero, Medical Professional, Non-Physician Category.
